Virtue and Vice

There is one thing that Rick makes perfectly clear about virtues and vices: pay attention to your vices and others' virtues.  And I must say, this is an extremely practical view of the matter.  After all, you can do nothing about others' vices, and paying excessive attention to them will only serve to irritate you.  You can conciously do little about virtues you already possess, and paying excessive attention to them will only irritate others.

Sin is not hurtful because it is forbidden, but it is forbidden because it is hurtful.
The proof of gold is fire, the proof of woman, gold; the proof of man, woman.
He is ill cloth'd who is bare of virtue.
Strive to be the greatest Man in your Country, and you may be disappointed; Strive to be the best, and you may succeed: He may well win the race that runs by himself.
What maintains one Vice, would bring up two Children.
Without justice, courage is weak.
Early to bed and early to rise, makes a man healthy wealthy and wise.*
The excellency of hogs is fatness, of men virtue.
Humility makes great men twice honorable.
How few are there who have courage enough to own their Faults, or resolution enough to mend them!*
To err is human, to repent divine; to persist devilish.
Declaiming against Pride, is not always a sign of Humility.
Doing an Injury puts you below your Enemy; Revenging one makes you even with him; Forgiving it sets you above him.
Avarice and Happiness never saw each other; how should they then become acquainted?
What you would seem to be, be really.
The most exquisite folly is made of Wisdom spun too fine.
Search others for their virtues, thyself for thy vices.
